Feeling Stuck

“Feeling stuck” is just that – a feeling – an illusion.

If life doesn’t seem to be happening around you  – the new job you’re trying to get, the book you’re trying to write, the relationship you’re trying to find – it’s because nothing is happening within you. It’s like trying to turn the TV on with a remote that has dead batteries. You can’t see that the batteries are dead. The only clue that you have is that nothing seems to be working.

When your internal power is off you lack the power to change the things around you.

Stuckness can sometimes look like tunnel vision. The remote batteries die while the TV is on and we get stuck caught in one version of reality. This mode of stuckness is an obsession with a specific outcome. You’re stuck on one channel – one possible vision of the future – and unable to see the other paths which would actually move you forward towards your dream.

Stuckness is not a challenge to overcome – it’s an invitation to be accepted.

A lack of opportunity in your life leaves you with an opportunity for your Self. It’s a moment to pause and recharge – a gift. Stuckness is always caused by some kind of external force draining us of our personal power. This may come from societal expectations, media depictions, the advice of well-intentioned teachers and gurus, the wishes of your friends and family, or many other things. But it’s not coming from You. If your current mode of being was really Yours, it wouldn’t cause You to get stuck.

Stuckness is a disconnect from your own internal guidance system. Take this opportunity to reconnect with yourself. What do you really value? What is it that you really want? Who do you want in your life right now? Connect to Yourself through your spiritual practices and connection with God or the Universe. Doing this will re-establish the flow of your internal energy.

This is the most important job you have right now, which is why the Universe has left this space and time for you.
